MARI is the Minnesota Addiction Recovery Initiative.
Several organizations dedicated to serving all communities suffering from the opioid crisis.

Who we are

The Twin Cities Recovery Project (TCRP) is a Recovery Community Organization (RCO) part of MARI that offers services for people seeking help in the areas of substance use, mental health, and criminal justice.

What are Safe Spaces

Twin Cities Recovery Project has established Safe Spaces throughout the community to offer free, round the clock support for those facing substance abuse challenges. Our symbol can be seen in windows of stores, barbershops, gas stations, and churches assuring you that help is nearby. Visit us at Fire Station 14 in Minneapolis, where you will be warmly greeted by a Peer Recovery Coach or Firefighter in a safe and welcoming environment

TCRP Safe Spaces Services & Types of Help

Our services include:

  • Crisis intervention 

  • Counseling 

  • Referrals and connection to support services  such as withdrawal management medication, mental health care, harm reduction, and more 

  • Continue to engage with your PRC, who will continue to support you across your journey however that looks for you. 

Types of crises we help include:

  • Inability to perform daily tasks 

  • Out-of-control mood swings 

  • Loss of touch with reality 

  • Paranoia

Peer Recovery Coach (PRC)

A Peer Recovery Coach is a person who is self- identified as having personal experience in recovery from substance abuse. They have basic knowledge of mental health diagnosis and how to work with peers who may have co-occurring disorders or need other specials accommodations.

Peer Recovery Coaches (PRCs) are:

  • Caring professionals with an open mind to new ideas

  • Respectful, conscious, and aware of cultural differences when serving peers

  • Educated in multiple pathways to recovery 

  • Advocates for the peers they serve

Our goals for Safe Spaces

  • Offer a safe stigma free environment for individuals to get help 24 hours a day.

  • To meet your where you are at, bring the resources and support directly to you so you can choose what works for you.

  • To educate and build a network within the community to reduce stigma among residents, first responders, and the individuals they serve.

How Safe Spaces Work

  1. Go to a site listed below and you will be greeted with judgement free and shame free support.
    Minneapolis Fire Station 14 or Fire Station 2

  2. Meet with a TCRP Peer Recovery Coach (PRC)

  3. Your PRC will tell you about available support and resources, such as:
    - Withdrawal management
    - Medication 
    - Mental health care
    - Harm reduction 
    - And more

  4. Continue to engage with your PRC who will continue to support you across your journey, however that looks to you
